Late 19th Century Syrian Moorish Revival Hanging Corner Cabinet

A striking late 19th-century Syrian Moorish Revival hanging corner cabinet, probably Damascus, circa 1880–1900.

Crafted from richly toned wood and extensively decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay, the cabinet features a finely worked mashrabiya-style panelled door, turned columns, arched openings and intricate pierced carving. The elaborate architectural detailing continues through to the decorative bracketed base beneath.

Furniture of this type was produced by skilled Syrian craftsmen during the late 19th century, particularly in Damascus, combining traditional Islamic decorative techniques with pieces made for the growing European export market.

A particularly impressive example, designed to be wall mounted into the corner of a room.
